Paris Saint-Germain have opened talks to extend head coach Luis Enrique’s contract to 2030, and remain optimistic despite outside interest.

According to Le Parisien, the club want the Spaniard tied down until 2030. Talks are described as calm and on schedule, with a view to completion before the end of the season.

Two and a half years in, Enrique has become the dominant sporting figure and now holds full sporting authority. Moving now, 18 months before his June 2027 expiry, signals Paris’s intent to secure him.

His European title and the project’s reset have drawn suitors, notably in England. That is not the current feeling in Paris. He wants to feel the club is heading the right way, which he still believes.

In January 2025, shortly before extending to 2027, he said he hoped to stay up to 10 years but accepted that was very difficult at a top club. He noted he had never gone beyond four years and sometimes needed a break, yet called Paris a different project and said he felt very comfortable.

If he is still in post next season, Enrique would be the first coach under QSI to surpass three seasons. As of Saturday he is on 948 days and 151 matches. Laurent Blanc leads on 1093 days and 173 games, both marks could be beaten this season.
