PSG and Strasbourg lock horns in a top-of-the-table clash at the Parc des Princes on Friday evening.
Both teams are currently in the top three of Ligue 1, separated by just one point, making this a crucial encounter.
PSG have confirmed that Ousmane Dembélé, Fabián Ruiz and João Neves will all remain sidelined for Friday’s clash. The French champions are dealing with an injury crisis that has disrupted their early-season momentum.
Marquinhos, who sustained a left thigh injury against Marseille in September, is doubtful for the match. The Brazilian captain has been out since before the international break and Luis Enrique has stated he cannot guarantee the defender will be available to start.
Désiré Doué is also questionable after recovering from a calf injury, with Enrique indicating his fitness will be assessed based on Thursday’s training session performance. Senny Mayulu remains out with a thigh injury.
The Spanish manager emphasised the unpredictability of the international break, stating there would be “a lot of individual situations to look out for” regarding player fitness. Despite the injury setbacks, Enrique praised his squad’s resilience, highlighting their ability to maintain competitive levels during this challenging period.
Liam Rosenior’s side will be without several key players for their trip to the capital. Emmanuel Emegha, the team’s captain and regular starter, is ruled out with a hamstring injury. The Dutch striker’s absence is a significant blow to Strasbourg’s attacking options.
Mamadou Sarr, the 20-year-old Chelsea loanee, continues to miss out with a thigh injury sustained in training in late September. The promising defender has been sidelined for several weeks and will not feature against PSG.
Saidou Sow remains out long-term with a cruciate ligament injury and is not expected to return until early January 2026. Sebastian Nanasi has been dealing with a shoulder issue but could return to the squad.
Despite these absences, Rosenior has a talented squad at his disposal, with the youngest average starting age in Europe’s top five leagues at just 21 years and 180 days. The English manager will rely on his depth to compete at the Parc des Princes.
Luis Enrique’s side has endured a slightly inconsistent period recently with one win in their last three Ligue 1 matches. They collected 16 points from seven matches. The Parisians sit top of the table but lead by just a single point, with their advantage far from secure.
PSG’s most recent league outing saw them held to a 1-1 draw at Lille before the international break, with Nuno Mendes scoring the equaliser. That result followed a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Marseille at the Stade Vélodrome, their first league loss of the campaign.
However, in European competition, Les Parisiens have been impressive, securing a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory at Barcelona in the Champions League. Senny Mayulu and substitute Gonçalo Ramos scored the goals in Catalonia, maintaining PSG’s perfect record in Europe with two wins from two matches.
At home, PSG have been flawless this season, winning all three Ligue 1 matches at the Parc des Princes without conceding a single goal. They defeated Angers, Lens and Auxerre, showcasing their defensive solidity in the capital.
Strasbourg have enjoyed a remarkable start to the 2025-26 campaign under Rosenior, collecting 15 points from seven matches to sit third in the table. Their five victories represent their best start to a Ligue 1 season since winning the title in 1978-79.
Le Racing demolished Angers 5-0 in their last outing, with Joaquín Panichelli scoring twice and Martial Godo also netting a brace. That emphatic victory followed a 2-1 win over Slovan Bratislava in their UEFA Conference League opener.
The Alsace club have won 17 Ligue 1 matches in 2025, just one short of their all-time record in a calendar year set in 1996. Their dynamic, possession-based style under Rosenior has seen them complete more dribbles (66) than any team except PSG this season.
However, Strasbourg’s two defeats this campaign both came against top opposition, losing to Marseille and Monaco on the road. They have also struggled to maintain leads, dropping 25 points from winning positions since the start of last season.
Away from home, Strasbourg have won two of their three league fixtures this term, though they conceded five goals in its last two away games before recent improvement.
