PSG/Arsenal – Pires points to Arsenal’s main strength

This Saturday, May 30, Paris Saint-Germain will face Arsenal in the Champions League final in Budapest. Speaking to Téléfoot, Robert Pires, a member of France’s 1998 World Cup-winning team, discussed the strengths and weaknesses of both sides.

Pires: “Mikel Arteta, it will be built on defense.”

“Defense is really their strong point. I’m thinking in particular of Saliba and Gabriel. They will be two completely different styles, with Luis Enrique focused entirely on attack, while Mikel Arteta’s approach will be based on defense.”

Let’s hope we won’t have to sit through a one-sided match with Arsenal camped deep in their own half. The best way for PSG to avoid that scenario would be to score very quickly. When spaces open up, the capital club is formidable, but it is hard to judge this team’s ability to break down a compact, well-organized defense. The Parisians will have to produce something special no matter what against an Arsenal side that is just 90 minutes away from winning its first Champions League.
