PSG sealed the Ligue 1 title after a season-long duel with Lens. According to Le Progres, five moments defined the champions’ route.
September 2025: the first wobble. Paris lost the Classique 1-0 to OM on 22 September, looking vulnerable amid a brutal schedule after a pre-season without friendlies, a Club World Cup final defeat to Chelsea and a UEFA Super Cup win over Tottenham. That evening also brought Ousmane Dembélé’s Ballon d’Or, underlining the strange mix of fatigue and celebration.
November 2025: the spark in Lyon. Trailing and under pressure in Décines, PSG snatched a 3-2 victory thanks to João Neves at 90+5, a result that signalled champion habits.
December 2025: not top at Christmas for the first time in five seasons. After 16 rounds, Lens led on 37 points, one ahead of Paris. With injuries and rotation biting, the European champions laboured, and Luis Enrique was without several key players, including the long-absent Dembélé.
February 2026: the title race turned. Still leaders, Lens went 2-0 up against Monaco but collapsed 3-2 at Bollaert, their first home loss since 16 August. Hours later PSG beat Metz 3-0 to move two points clear, having already thrashed OM 5-0 earlier in the month.
May 2026: the night it was confirmed. With a six-point cushion and a far superior goal difference, only the arithmetic remained. After beating Brest 1-0, Enrique had said his side were 99.99 percent champions, and a 2-0 win at Bollaert made it official.
