PSG’s 2025 sextuple, from Ligue 1 to the Intercontinental Cup, has shifted the club’s status. According to L'Équipe, Luis Enrique called the year historic as Paris joined Barcelona 2009 and Bayern Munich 2020 in sweeping six trophies.
The campaign’s hinge moment came on 22 January, a group match with Manchester City that flipped from 0-2 to 4-2. PSG then saw off Manchester City, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal in Europe, before dismantling Inter Milan 5-0 in the final on 31 May.
Inside the club, they say to sit with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Milan and Liverpool, they must keep winning. As a younger institution, they believe this team could claim three or four Champions Leagues in the next 10 years. Luis Enrique said it was not down to chance, praising the collective built since summer 2024.
Aymeric Laporte, who knows the wait for a first crown, said such a triumph moves a team into a new dimension and brings confidence. He also noted Manchester City arrived with greater domestic credibility in a more demanding league.
An agent of a senior PSG player said the team had been viewed as one that dropped its head, with Marquinhos the emblem, and that this victory changed that. Inside, the alignment of Nasser al-Khelaïfi, Luis Campos and Luis Enrique is cited as decisive, with swift decisions and a clear club-first approach.
Hasan Salihamidzic noted Bayern’s sextuple relied on harmony, depth and some luck, and said lasting legend status demands winning again and again.
