According to a report by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manuel Ugarte (23) is pushing for a move to Manchester United after he agreed personal terms with the club in July. The Premier League side are reportedly still working hard to make this happen and are formulating a loan agreement with an obligation to buy.
Ugarte’s time at Paris Saint-Germain looks to be over only a year after making the swap from Sporting CP. The midfielder had started life well in the French capital and looked to be a perfect fit as a combative presence protecting the defensive line. However, his influence began to wane in the second half of the season and he found it more difficult to get regular game time under Luis Enrique.
Manchester United have been looking for a new figure in their midfield and believe that the young Uruguayan international could help add some steel to their squad. Negotiations are thought to be ongoing with Ugarte’s agent Jorge Mendes leading the talks with PSG.
