According to L’Équipe, Marco Verratti (30) and Julian Draxler (29) are both set to depart Paris Saint-Germain in the coming days, with both midfielders on the verge of completing moves to Qatar.
Whilst the transfer windows of many leagues have already closed, Qatar’s remains open until 18th September, and before its closure, the league is set to welcome two of PSG’s midfielders. Verratti was informed earlier in the summer by Luis Enrique and Luis Campos that he was surplus to requirements at the Parc des Princes. In the search for a new club, a move to Qatar has always seemed the most likely option for the Italian international.
Verratti’s 11-year stay now looks set to draw to a close. After an agreement between PSG and Al-Arabi was struck a few days ago, Verratti himself now has an agreement with the Qatari club. He must now undergo a medical and sign the contract in order to conclude the move.
Draxler also looks set for a move to the Middle East. The German midfielder, who was returning from a loan spell at Benfica, also didn’t feature in PSG’s plans. After reportedly rejecting a move to Crystal Palace, Draxler now looks set to join AL-Ahli SC, with whom a total agreement was reached just a few hours ago.
