PSV v Fortuna Sittard Preview: Home side looking to make it five wins in a row

PSV welcome Fortuna Sittard to Eindhoven on Friday night in the Eredivisie hoping to make it five wins in a row. Since their 4-0 away win over PEC Zwolle, PSV have gone on to beat Go Ahead Eagles (2-1), Napoli (6-2) and most recently Feyenoord in a top of the table clash (3-2). Fortuna Sittard, on the other hand, have won just two of their past five games and will be up against it this weekend.

PSV have begun to find their form and Moroccan midfielder Ismael Saibari has been a major factor in this. The 24-year-old has scored eight goals in his last seven games, including a hat-trick over Feyenoord last weekend. Saibari looks set to match his 15 goals of last season, although with just one assist he may struggle to hit the 14 he provided last year. PSV are now level on points with Feyenoord in the table, with an identical record of eight wins, one draw and one defeat. Last season they beat Fortuna Sittard twice, with a 4-1 win at home.

Fortuna Sittard have only won four of their 10 Eredivisie games so far this season, with 14 goals scored and 15 conceded. Mohammed Ihattaren and the experienced Paul Gladon lead the side with three goals apiece. The side could do with Kaj Sierhuis finding the form he showed during the 2023/2024 season. Injuries have hampered Sierhuis since that 15 goal season and he is slowly making his way back to form. If Fortuna Sittard have any chance of getting something out of the clash with PSV they will need to defend well and hope a player like Sierhuis can take one of the few chances they may create.

A win for PSV will put pressure on Feyenoord ahead of their clash with FC Volendam on Saturday evening.
