The Danish forward has made an immediate impression following his summer move to Celtic, netting a hat-trick in the Premiership victory over Kilmarnock.
Nevin has been particularly impressed by the 25-year-old’s movement and believes it is already clear Celtic have landed a serious player, questioning why Premier League clubs did not rival the Hoops for his signature.
Having previously seen similarities between former Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi and Larsson, Nevin admits Hogh is now giving him the same feeling.
He said via The Herald: “They had Kyogo and Maeda for a period of time. I remember Kyogo’s first game for the Hoops, I hadn’t seen him before, but I watched that first game and thought, ‘My goodness, could this be the new Larsson?’ It was only 15 or 20 minutes in. Just now and again, you get players like that, you look and think, ‘Your movement is perfect. Everything is perfect.’
“I don’t care if you don’t score for 10 games, you’re going to be fine if you move right. Hogh is the same, he really is. He scored his three goals at Kilmarnock, two were easy, but being at the game, I was able to watch his movement and his attitude. He’s a dream. There’s one big, surprising thing about him, why on earth did the top English clubs not spot him? It’s obvious he is a player.
“There’s no such thing as a certainty, but he’s as close as you get in Scottish football to being a regular top goalscorer in that league. And in European football, he’s scored a whole bunch of goals in his career against top teams.
“I’m not saying anything magical that nobody else has spotted, but he keeps getting them. I remember my manager once saying to me, ‘I’ve won a watch’, meaning he’d struck lucky getting me. Well getting Hogh, I think they’ve won a whole watch shop and a Big Ben as well.
“Celtic fans have got an absolute hero in the making. He’s been here two minutes, and my first thought is, ‘How long can they keep him?’ He can be that good, so barring injury, he’s a cracker.”
