Pundit says Rangers are ‘so far ahead’ of Celtic in brutal derby assessment | OneFootball

Pat Bonner has delivered a damning assessment of Celtic after Martin O’Neill’s side suffered another derby defeat against Rangers.

Celtic had seven days to respond to their 3-0 Premier Sports Cup defeat at Ibrox, but Rangers followed that victory by winning 1-0 at Celtic Park on Sunday.

O’Neill suggested afterwards that there was not much between the teams, but former Celtic goalkeeper Bonner offered a very different assessment of the performance.

Asked on BBC Sportsound whether Sunday’s defeat was even more disappointing than the heavier loss at Ibrox, Bonner said: “Yeah, because they’re at home in front of their own fans. It was so meek.

“I’ve got to say, again, Rangers tactically, physically, their passing combinations, all the things that you would have expected from Celtic in the past, they were so far ahead of Celtic, and Celtic were devoid of ideas.”

He continued: “They are unable to pass the ball. They’re nervy. The decision-making was awful today. Again, physically out-fought.”

Bonner added: “I don’t see that in Celtic at this moment in time.”
