One punter wins 197k off of £10 back in August - The bet had 18 legs
One lucky punter took home 197k from a £10 bet thanks to Wrexham - They left it very late.
When it comes to betting, very few will be able to say that they've had a better return than one lucky punter back in August who won potentially the 'bet of the year' thanks to the newly promoted Wrexham.
With betting very much being a game of luck and chance, luck was very much in for this punter who placed a betslip when looking at it on face value had next to no chance. However, thanks to Wrexham, they walked away with a life-changing amount of money, and will always hold the Hollywood-owned side close to their heart.
With the Premier League yet to kick off at the time of the winning betslip, by no means did that mean that punters around the UK didn't have football to try their luck winning money on. The 197k win was placed on the first round of Carabao Cup fixtures with a list of 18 legs of the same selection all being ticked off.

Back in August, bookmakers Paddy Power posted via their X page the punter's audacious bet which was only placed two minutes before the 19:45pm kick-off time around the grounds.
Paddy Power said: "Bet of the season landed already. Over 9.5 corners in 18 matches. £10 stake returning £197,945.98. Decent Tuesday evening's work for one punter in Essex!"
From the screenshot posted via Paddy Power's X account, it displays the bet time as being 19:43:09. Therefore, with the punters most likely being in a rush to put it on with less than two minutes to spare until the starting whistle, to say he will be thankful he placed it in time would be a massive understatement.
The betslip consisted of 18 First Round Carabao Cup matches with the over 9.5 corners sailing in in no time in some games and others being left to the buzzer, with the games between Wrexham and Hull City certainly being the latter.
The all Championship matchup clocked up exactly 10 corners, which would've had the punter on the edge of their seat in the late stages of the game. However, with seconds remaining, it wasn't about the result for the punter as the 10th and final corner came in the fifth minute of additional time to their relief, and maybe even to Paddy Power's dismay.

Fan many football fans, betting is very much part of their matchday experience. Whether it's getting their early in order to watch the warm-ups or even 5 minutes into the game due to sneaking in one more pint in the pub, being in with a chance to win some easy money just by backing your hunch is what makes it so gripping.
But for this one fan, even at this early stage of the season, it will be very difficult to beat their wild bet.
A spokesperson from Paddy Power said via Sportbible: "The first round of the Carabao Cup rarely produces the stuff of dreams - except for this lucky punter, who's gone from flags to riches with an unbelievable 18-leg corner acca."
10 corners may not seem too far-fetched to any regular football fan. However, any regular punter will know that for this to happen in 18 matches without even one letting you down is near enough impossible to predict. So, with Wrexham to thank for merely letting the ball cross their own by-line in the dying embers of the game, this £10 to £197k bet will certainly live long in the memory - especially for Paddy Power.
