Fiston Mayele is no longer finding the back of the net

Pyramids FC: The remarkable goal drought of Fiston Mayele
Pyramids FC suffered a 1-2 defeat yesterday against Smouha in the 17th round of the Egyptian Premier League. Fiston Mayele, the club's star striker and African champion, was once again unable to find the net.
It's a stunning scoring drought. Yesterday against Smouha (1-2 loss), Fiston Mayele extended his barren run to 19 consecutive matches without a goal in all competitions. The last time the former Young Africans star scored was on October 26, 2025, when he opened the scoring in a 1-1 draw between Pyramids and Ethiopian Medhin during the CAF Champions League qualifiers.
That's 19 matches and more than three months without scoring, spanning his club and national team appearances, and notably across five major competitions: the Egyptian Premier League, Africa Cup of Nations, Egyptian Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, and various friendlies.
With Pyramids set to face Rivers United on Sunday in the fifth round of the CAF Champions League, all eyes of African football fans will be on the attacking performance of the Congolese striker.
