Jaylan Pearman is wanted by Swindon Town on loan as Ian Holloway looks for a favour from his former club

Swindon Town manager Ian Holloway is looking to raid his former club QPR ahead of the new League Two season, with a swoop lined up for Australian youngster Jaylan Pearman.

The Robins are in desperate need of more re-inforcements to make sure they're in the promotion battle for the upcoming campaign, and they pretty much have done for the entirety of the summer, with only two-and-a-half weeks left to get deals done.

Swindon finished in ninth position last season in League Two, just two spots outside of the play-offs and three points shy of it - despite being in the top seven for much of the campaign.

A number of first-team players exited the County Ground following the conclusion of the campaign, and seven fresh faces have arrived - three of them being loanees.

Town have struggled with injury issues during pre-season though, and they controversially revealed ahead of a planned friendly against Forest Green Rovers that they were planning on fielding a reserve and youth-based XI against Robbie Savage's side due to a lack of first-teamers.

As it happened, Swindon ended up being able to field a solid starting 11, and they came through the test with flying colours and a 4-1 victory, but more injuries have cropped up since, with new signing Sam Inwood, as well as Joe Snowdon, looking likely to be sidelined for the clash against Northampton Town this coming weekend.

And in a bid to strengthen his squad, Ian Holloway is looking towards one of his many former clubs for help, with a move for Jaylan Pearman eyed up, according to Sam Morshead of The Moonraker.

The 20-year-old Australia youth international is currently on the fringes of the first-team setup at Loftus Road, having arrived last year from Perth Glory in his home nation.

In Australia's top flight, Pearman netted four goals in just 12 league outings which led to interest and his eventual move to England with the R's, joining fellow countrymen Kealey Adamson and Daniel Bennie in West London.

The attacking midfielder only appeared in two matchday Championship squads in 2025-26 without getting off the bench, and up to now has only appeared once in all competitions - that being in the form of an 86-minute showing in the EFL Cup against Plymouth Argyle last August.

Pearman did help the R's Development Squad win the London Senior Cup though, scoring a hat-trick against Dulwich Hamlet in the final, but he may now head out for more first-team football experience, with Swindon looking to strike a deal.

Despite being able to name nine substitutes for last Saturday's EFL Cup clash with Cardiff City, in which they went down valiantly 3-2 against the Bluebirds, there were only six players on Holloway's bench.

That sums up the lack of depth he currently has due to injury issues within his squad, and even if no newbies arrive before this weekend's Northampton clash, it's important that deals do get done in the weeks to come.

And if QPR can help out by lending Swindon a player like Pearman until January or until the end of the season, then it's mutually beneficial - the R's let the young Aussie gain first-team experience after missing out on a year of it after his move from Perth Glory, and Swindon get to add a number 10 or wide player, which is needed given the fact that 17-year-old Louis Millard was thrown in at the deep end for the Cardiff game.
