Michael Frey is set to depart Loftus Road between now and February 2nd
Michael Frey's time at Queens Park Rangers is likely to conclude between now and the conclusion of the winter transfer window as interest emerges in the experienced Swiss forward.
That is according to local publication, West London Sport, on Friday morning, with the Hoops frontman beginning to fall even further down Julien Stephan's pecking order as the Frenchman enters his second transfer window in charge at Loftus Road since taking charge in place of Marti Cifuentes in June.
It has been an intriguing first 25 matches of the Championship campaign for Rangers, who continue to reside amongst the cluster of clubs fighting it out for a position in the play-offs come the end of term.
A 2-1 defeat to relegation-threatened Norwich City on New Year's Day did throw a spanner into those works, though, as the West London outfit dropped to 12th place after other results failed to go in their favour. However, Stephan's outfit do still remain just five points behind Preston North End in sixth with 21 league outings remaining.
It was an extremely active summer window for Stephan, in which 11 new signings were made on a permanent or loan basis, with the standout acquisition coming in the form of Rumarn Burrell, who has already scored nine goals in his first 24 second tier appearances.
The Jamaican and Richard Kone have, unsurprisingly, been the former Stade Rennais and RC Strasbourg's preferred options in attack after their signatures were courted at length by the capital club.
As such, those who were pre-existing members of Rangers' squad in the striking department have found regular minutes extremely hard to come by, with the aforementioned Frey falling victim to such a predicament more than any other forward.

The experienced striker, who had previously earned 14 caps for Switzerland at Under-21 level over 10 years ago, initially moved to Loftus Road in the first window of the aforementioned Cifuentes' spell as manager in W12 as Rangers looked to stave off relegation to League One in January 2024.
The former Royal Antwerp man initially struggled for regular minutes under the Spaniard as a result of injury issues, scoring just once in his opening nine appearances for the Hoops.
What will appear to be his only full season with the London side amid new developments did prove to be somewhat of a successful campaign for Frey, as he ended the campaign on nine goals.
With it unclear as to what the future would hold for the striker after the conclusion of the current season, the former BSC Young Boys and Schalke 04 man was handed a contract extension in September 2025, which saw him further extend his stay at Loftus Road, although the length of said deal was not disclosed at the time.
Such developments also ironically followed the fact his stay in W12 was initially extended in May, as the deal signed almost 24 months ago was set to conclude at the expiration of the 2024/25 season.
However, despite being rewarded fresh terms, which sees him take home a pay packet of £15,000 per week - according to ESTIMATES from Capology - the opening five months of the current campaign have been one of immense frustration for the striker.
Frey has made 13 appearances for Rangers since August, although only two of those have come from the starting lineup against Oxford United and Millwall.
With his most recent outing coming through a five-minute cameo against Portsmouth on Boxing Day, the 31-year-old has missed the subsequent games against West Bromwich Albion and Norwich, with West London Sport now claiming that he is likely to be allowed to depart the club between now and the close of the window at 7PM on February 2nd.
It remains to be seen which exact clubs are linked with his services. However, the aforementioned update reveals interest is strong in the attacker.

With his gametime limited, it is beneficial for all parties that Frey sources a new side to reignite his career whilst Rangers continue to hunt down the top six.
It has been a transfer that Rangers supporters will issue mixed feelings about, as Frey showcased his goalscoring nous last season, but has either been blighted by injuries or found it hard to oust other strikers in rich veins of form at other times.
It also remains to be seen if the Hoops will be able to gain a respectable fee for his services that can be recycled into bolstering Stephan's squad for the coming weeks and months.
