Rafa Mir will stand trial in Valencia on Thursday 28 May over alleged sexual assault and injury offences. The hearing is scheduled from 10:00 at the Fourth Section of the Valencia court, City of Justice.
According to Superdeporte, the Elche player, contracted to Sevilla, is on holiday, remains calm and maintains his innocence.
Mir was detained in September 2024 while on loan at Valencia. A woman he met in a nightclub later reported him after visiting his home with a friend and two of his friends, one of them footballer Pablo Jara, who will also be tried.
After almost two days in custody, he appeared before the Llíria court, stated the sex was consensual and was released provisionally with precautionary measures, as neither side sought his remand.
In October 2025, the Llíria investigating court ordered Mir and Jara to stand trial for sexual assault. For Mir, the order cited carnal access and use of violence, concluding there were sufficient indications to proceed.
The prosecution seeks 10 and a half years for Mir, nine for sexual assault and one and a half for injuries, plus €74,000 in damages. For Jara it seeks four years and €6,280.
Mir’s lawyer asks for acquittal, arguing the relations were consensual. The defence also opposes a closed hearing and any bar on direct confrontation between the complainants and the accused, while prosecutors request a closed session to protect the alleged victims.
