With Joan Laporta resigning as the president of FC Barcelona on Monday, so as to contest in the upcoming elections, his right-hand man, Rafa Yuste, is now the acting president.

Indeed, the former sporting vice-president took over from Laporta after his resignation in order to stand in the elections.

And, on Monday night, Yuste represented the Catalan club at the first edition of La Nit de la Ràdio, organised by Cadena SER, where he spoke for the first time as interim Barça president.

Yuste explained his intentions while he remains in charge of the club until a new president is elected, saying:

“The goal is to maintain the course set so far. We want to bring the greatest joy to the Barça members.”

The Barcelona president also chose not to respond to the provocations of Real Madrid manager Alvaro Arbeloa regarding the Negreira case.

“Focused on Barça and listening to the people who are key figures at our club, in this case, within the sporting department, and offering my full support to Flick, his staff, Deco, and Bojan, and nothing else,” he said.

“I have nothing to say about Madrid or any other team,” Yuste added.

Finally, he also avoided speculating about the possibility of lifting the Champions League as president later in the season, saying:

“What I’m imagining now is going to Madrid on Thursday and playing a great match. And as Flick says, taking it one step at a time.”
