The Brazilian Football Confederation has confirmed Rafael Klein as the referee for Flamengo v Fluminense on 11 October at the Maracanã, in the Brasileirão’s 30th round. For now only his appointment has been released, with the remaining officials expected in the coming days.

Flamengo have already had five matches overseen by Rafael Rodrigo Klein this season, with three wins, one draw and one defeat.

The only loss came in the Supercopa do Brasil, a 2-0 defeat to Corinthians at Mané Garrincha in Brasília.

After that, Flamengo beat Atlético-MG 4-0, then drew 1-1 with Athletico-PR. They followed up with wins over Chapecoense, 4-0, and Mirassol, 5-1.

Following the pause, Flamengo visit Santos on 8 October at 19:30 Brasília time at Vila Belmiro. The derby follows three days later.

Flamengo lead the Brasileirão with 60 points from 28 games, while Fluminense are fourth on 48 from 28. The gap does not diminish the weight of the rivalry.

In the Libertadores, both clubs are in the semi-finals. Flamengo face Estudiantes, ARG, on 15 and 22 October, while Fluminense await the winner of LDU, EQU, v Palmeiras. Dual progression could set up a continental Fla-Flu final.

Rede Globo on free-to-air and Premiere on pay-per-view will broadcast the clássico.
