Rafael Leao expressed his frustration at ‘speculation and stories that aren’t true’ about his Milan future, insisting ‘nobody other than my family and lawyers are authorised to speak for me.’

The Portugal international had stated several times at the end of last season that he felt his time at Milan had come to a natural conclusion, so was looking for a fresh challenge away from Serie A.

However, the offers from the Premier League and LaLiga simply did not materialise, so the only proposals came from the Turkish Super Lig via Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Besiktas.

Unable to reach the €50m plus €10m bonus asking price, Leao appears to be stuck at Milan.

He vented his frustration today with an Instagram Story, showing text alongside a photograph of him training with the Rossoneri.

“My only thought is on the field: I am concentrated on giving my best, every single game and every single training session.

“Just to avoid any form of speculation and stories that aren’t true, I repeat that for some time I’ve assigned all my interests exclusively to my family and my lawyers.

“Nobody else is authorised to speak for me. My mind is on the next objectives.”

It remains to be seen how this situation will be resolved, considering Milan appear to have no intention of extending Leao’s contract beyond June 2028.

There is still time to find a suitable buyer this summer, but the Rossoneri won’t accept a loan with option or obligation to make it permanent.
