Former Barcelona star Rafael Marquez has declined to answer questions over replacing Xavi Hernandez as head coach.
The situation surrounding Xavi’s future at the club remains unsure following a rollercoaster few days in Catalonia.
Xavi’s decision to change his previous stance on leaving Barcelona appeared to have settled the tension as plans for next season took shape.
However, Xavi now faces crunch talks with club president Joan Laporta in the coming days, following comments on the club’s transfer objectives.
Marquez was linked with stepping up from Barca Atletic (reserves) to the first team earlier this year and his name is back in the frame.
As the speculation continues to grow, Marquez insisted he is only focused on the incoming playoffs, as his side aim for promotion from Primera Federacion (third level).
“My focus is on the playoffs. I’m concentrating on the present to try to make the best that I can from the current situation”, as per quotes from Mundo Deportivo.
Marquez’s side have already sealed a spot in the playoffs but they missed out on automatic qualification to North champions Deportivo la Coruna.
