Raheem Sterling pleaded guilty on Tuesday to dangerous driving, possessing nitrous oxide for illegal inhalation, and refusing a test after a late May crash in southern England.

According to L'Équipe, the 31-year-old former Manchester City and England forward appeared at Basingstoke court, about 80 km south-west of London, after being released on bail.

He was arrested when his Lamborghini struck a safety barrier on an English motorway. No other vehicle was involved and no one was hurt.

The Kingston, Jamaica-born winger accepted his driving on 28 May was dangerous and that he had six nitrous oxide canisters at the time.

Sterling has played for Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea, winning the Premier League four times with City in 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022. He tried to revive his career with a loan to Arsenal, then at Feyenoord, without success. He has been without a club since the end of last season, and his last England cap came in 2022.
