Chelsea suffered their first WSL defeat under Sonia Bompastor at the weekend and took their frustration out on AS Roma with a 6-0 win.

The Blues were dominant in front of their own fans and took the lead in the 13th minute. Sandy Baltimore's cross was aimed at Sam Kerr but instead Valentina Bergamaschi ended up accidentally putting the ball into her own net.

Johanna Kaneryd's header down for Wieke Kaptein made it 2-0 in the 26th minute before the Swede got on the scoresheet herself just before the break after she reacted to Olivie Lukásová's save.

With the game essentially over at half-time, Bompastor made three changes and one of those scored five minutes after coming on.

After a VAR check, Marta Pandini was judged to have fouled substitute Sjoeke Nüsken with the German then going on to finish the resulting penalty.

Maika Hamano was another of those half-time changes and she made it 5-0 in the 76th minute before Lucy Bronze put in a cross in the 86th minute that sailed over everyone including the goalkeeper to finish off the scoring.

Chelsea are now second with five games gone and return to WSL action on Sunday when they travel to face Brighton & Hove Albion.
