Rangers have it all to play for in their Champions League play-off after a pulsating first-leg draw with PSV Eindhoven.
Scorers: Sima 45′, Matondo 76′; Sangaré 61′, De Jong 80′
The hosts initially struggled to impose themselves on proceedings while their Eredivisie counterparts routinely threatened.
But Abdallah Sima broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time with a curling finish after being teed up by Cyriel Dessers.
Michael Beale’s side were level-pegged just a quarter an hour after the interval through Ibrahim Sangaré rifling past Jack Butland.
The Gers’ manager rang the changes as Sima and Ryan Jack made way for John Lundstram and Rabbi Matondo for the final 20 minutes.
That move paid off as Matondo put the SPFL outfit back in the lead courtesy of a sweeping finish from Desser’s second assist against the run of play.
However PSV struck back within four minutes through Luuk de Jong heading home as Johan Bakayoko doubled his own tally as provider.
Neither team could deliver a killer blow during the closing stages ahead of the return fixture at the Philips Stadion next week.
