Rangers and Katic could reunite as Croat leaves Zürich | OneFootball

For whatever reason, Niko Katic is to leave Zürich and the former Rangers star is desperate to return to Ibrox.

And we at Ibrox Noise are desperate to get him back.

We do not know the ins and outs of this contract situation or why Zürich are letting him go but we do know that he loved his time at Rangers and was incredibly popular with fans.

The big memory that stands out with Katic was the time during around 2019 when he kept Helander out of the side purely on the basis of good form.

Then manager Steven Gerrard admitted the reason he couldn’t play Helander was quite simply the form of Katic. And bear in mind Helander at that point was a brand-new £3 million signing.

The English manager still dropped Katic anyway, but Katic’s form was absolutely outstanding and he was on his way to realising the potential of being a pseudo VVD for Rangers.

Admittedly he did have a bad habit of rushing heads first in and not paying attention to exactly where he was but that is now a long time ago and he’s grown up a lot since then.

He was also treated very badly by Giovanni who we have a lot of time for here in Ibrox Noise, but we do know was not the best man manager. He simply did not like Katic and paid him no attention whatsoever something the Croatian admitted later and didn’t have too many positive words for the Dutchman.

Put simply he did not want to leave.

Rangers are short of bodies at the back. Our new signing is not ready to even start yet while Katic is match fit and raring to go.

It makes absolute sense.
