Rangers and the World Cup – who will represent the Famous in USA

Article image:Rangers and the World Cup – who will represent the Famous in USA

With Scotland getting to the World Cup we do know that a certain number of Rangers players will represent their nations at next year’s showpiece event. John Souter Conor Barron Liam Kelly of Rangers are potentials to make the trip across the pond and play for their nations at the major 2026 tournament. But who else of Rangers persuasion is likely to get there and make Rangers players at world cup.

Confirmed nations and Rangers involvement

Unfortunately at this moment in time the nations that have secured their passage do not have too many Rangers players among them. Nico Raskin is the major name for Belgium. He will be there assuming he is called up because Belgium of course are there. Derek Cornelius is also a likely representative. He will go with Canada but as this is only a loan he will not count as Rangers representation next summer unless the club signs him permanently.

Diomande and national selection

Sadly the only other name that is currently guaranteed is the Ivory Coast which would of course be Mohamed Diomande. He will almost certainly get the call to play for his country or at least to represent. There was the big issue of Diomande between Ghana and indeed the Ivory Coast. He chose the Ivory Coast as his nation to play for and has had call ups. He does play for his country. Whether he gets the call to fully represent at that level time will tell. Well next year’s announcement will.

Playoff hopes and former players

Unfortunately there is nobody else at this moment in time. There may be one or two other nations who are competing in playoffs but in terms of guaranteed teams to have their places at the tournament zero. Hamza Ighamani will be there for Morocco but of course he is long gone as a Rangers player. We will touch on him in a separate article but yes in terms of Rangers representation not too much at this moment in time.

We will see how many join what there is as the playoffs commence.
