Rangers captain James Tavernier has put out a statement on social media after he missed the Light Blues’ Scottish Premiership game against Hibernian at Ibrox on Wednesday night.
It was reported that the Rangers hero had left Ibrox before the match following a bust-up with manager Danny Rohl.
However, Tavernier was available to receive an official presentation on behalf of the club given by John Greig afterwards.
The defender did not feature in the match as he was not named in the starting XI and he has taken to Instagram this evening to explain his side of the story.
As Tavernier explained in his post, the matter could have been handled differently had there been smoother communication between him and the Rangers boss.
The Light Blues play Falkirk away from home in their last game of the season on Saturday and it remains to be seen whether the 34-year-old will be available for the trip.
Tavernier was eagerly looking forward to playing his last game at Ibrox as a Rangers player yesterday after 11 years of service.
However, it was not meant to be and the club could now look to make amendments and arrange something for him as he deserves a proper send-off.
The Bears lost 2-1 to Hibs but will still finish the season in third position despite four defeats in four games following the split.
Their form in the second phase of the league campaign ended their title chances and ambitions, and Rohr will look to do better next season if he is still in charge.
