Rangers have named Danny Röhl as the club’s new head coach, agreeing to a two-and-a-half year contract.
The 36-year-old takes over following the departure of Russell Martin, who was dismissed two weeks ago after a disastrous start to the campaign.
Röhl had previously shown interest in the role but stepped back from discussions after learning he was not among the leading candidates. His appointment follows the collapse of talks with Kevin Muscat on Sunday evening, after which the German travelled to Glasgow to finalise terms.
He began his career at RB Leipzig before moving on to roles alongside Ralph Hasenhüttl at Southampton and later Hansi Flick at Bayern Munich, where he was part of the coaching staff during their Bundesliga-winning campaign.
In October 2023, Röhl took on his first managerial role at Sheffield Wednesday, where he successfully led the club to Championship survival but left this summer due to financial difficulties at Hillsborough.
He will assume duties immediately, with his first match in charge coming on Thursday against Brann in the Europa League.
