The Ewood Park club's hopes of signing a new winger may have been given a boost

Norwich City have already seen some significant attacking departures during the course of the summer transfer window.

Gabriel Sara has departed for Galatsaray, while Adam Idah has turned his loan move to Scottish champions Celtic into a permanent one.

Elsewhere, Jonathan Rowe also looks set for a move to Marseille, after a saga that has not been without controversy.

Now, it seems as though another Norwich attacker could be on his way out of Carrow Road before the window closes at the end of August in Abu Kamara.

Winger eyeing Norwich exit as Rangers circle

Last season saw Kamara excel on loan at Portsmouth, helping them win promotion back to the Championship as League One champions.

That has since led to speculation around his future, and having not started in the league for the Canaries this season, it was recently reported that the 21-year-old has handed in a transfer request.

One of the clubs who have been linked with a move for him are Rangers.

It is suggested that the Scottish giants have placed the Norwich man on their list of potential targets but that exits will be needed if a deal to bring Kamara to Ibrox is to be completed.

That in turn, could arguably be encouraging news for one of the Canaries' Championship rivals, in the form of Blackburn Rovers.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo is a transfer target for the Ewood Park club, but that suggestions a deal is done are premature at this stage.

That is a scenario that Rovers head coach John Eustace has since confirmed himself, and so the interest in Kamara from the Ibrox club is a good sign.

Both the Norwich man and Matondo are players who are capable of playing across the attacking midfield line.

As a result, Rangers may see Kamara as a potential replacement for the Wales international, should he move on.

So given they need exits to sign the Norwich man, letting go of someone in Matondo who could be losing his place in the side to their new signing anyway, could make sense.

Blackburn may well hope that does indeed prove to be the case, given the lift that completed the signing of the 23-year-old.

Throughout much of the summer, Eustace has stressed his desire to add a pacey winger to his side at Ewood Park.

That is ,of course, a job that Matondo can do for Blackburn with the traits he possesses, while he has also demonstrated an ability to provide an end product at times during his career too.

It is also worth noting that this summer has seen John Park return to the Lancashire club as head of recruitment, following a spell with Rangers.

With those connections, it should be no surprise that Rovers are now being linked with Matondo, and there should be confidence that they know the 23-year-old can do the job they need him to.
