Rangers will decide between Russell Martin and Davide Ancelotti in their search for their next permanent manager, according to Spanish journalist Guillem Balague.

The Light Blues want to bring a new manager this summer after interim manager Barry Ferguson left Ibrox following the conclusion of the 2024-25 campaign.

Rangers sacked Philippe Clement in February and are hoping to make the right appointment after finishing the season 17 points behind Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.

Fans will be praying that new sporting director Kevin Thelwell gets the decision right after Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises established majority ownership at Rangers last month.

Martin brings much-needed managerial experience to the table, having been in charge of Milton Keynes Dons, Swansea City and Southampton.

However, the Rangers target was sacked five months into the 2024-25 campaign, leaving Southampton bottom of the Premier League table after one league win in 16 matches.

Ancelotti is yet to take charge of a club as the main man calling the shots.

He has worked as an assistant to his father, Carlo Ancelotti, at Bayern Munich, Napoli, Everton and Real Madrid.

However, the experience he has garnered over the last nine years could be enough to convince Rangers that he has what it takes to take them to the next level.

Rangers watched on helplessly as Celtic bagged their 13th title of the last 14 league campaigns last season, and the new manager has a tough job on his hands.
