Rangers ‘Particularly Appreciate’ Profile Of Belgian Right-back, Gers Interested | OneFootball

Rangers are ‘closely monitoring’ the situation of Club Brugge’s Belgian right-back Hugo Siquet and ‘particularly appreciate the profile of the player’.

The Gers are looking to add at least another three players to the ranks before the transfer window closes, as they try to give Derek McInnes the tools he needs.

McInnes picked six players signed this summer in his starting lineup at the weekend, but still saw his Rangers side beaten 2-1 at home by Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers are rapidly closing in on the signing of PSV Eindhoven winger Couhaib Driouech and he is expected to undergo his medical in Glasgow on Tuesday.

The Driouech capture will be a boost for Rangers, who faced competition from Celta Vigo and Colorado Rapids for the Moroccan.

Rangers are keen to strengthen in the right-back area and have been linked with a number of potential options.

Now, according to French outlet Foot Mercato, they are taking particular interest in Club Brugge’s Siquet.

He is seen as a reliable performer at the Belgian champions and Rangers appreciate what he can bring to the table.

Rangers are now closely monitoring his situation and are aware that he has just two years left to run on his contract at Club Brugge.

The 24-year-old came through the ranks at Nicolas Raskin’s former club, Standard Liege, before a spell in Germany at Freiburg that failed to get off the ground.

He headed back to Belgium on loan at Cercle Brugge, before then signing for Club Brugge in 2024.

Siquet helped Club Brugge to win the Belgian Pro League title last season and would be turning his back on Champions League league phase football if he does leave.

Whether Rangers would be able to sell that move to Siquet is unclear, but they do like the player.

Rangers currently have Dujon Sterling and Ross McCrorie as right-back options, however there is an expectation they will recruit in the area before the transfer window closes.
