AEK Athens star James Penrice is currently undergoing a medical with Rangers today before he finalises his move to Ibrox, according to journalist Barry Anderson.
Rangers have been active in the ongoing window, but with the slow start to the season under Derek McInnes, they are keen to bring in more faces to strengthen the squad.
Left-back is an area where McInnes is currently short of options and with Tuur Rommens’ recent injury, they now feel urgency to recruit in that department.

Scottish left-back Penrice caught their attention and they were quick to agree to a deal with AEK Athens to bring the player to Ibrox on a season-long-loan deal.
Penrice joined the Greek outfit from Hearts last summer and they paid £2m to Derek McInnes’ former side to secure the signature of the defender.

Rangers have agreed to take the player on loan and the deal will consist of an option to make it permanent in the event Penrice manages to impress the Gers hierarchy.
It has been claimed that Penrice is undergoing his medical with Rangers today and if all goes well, he will put pen to paper to confirm his move.
The 27-year-old failed to impress for AEK Athens last season, but a return to the Scottish Premiership, which he is familiar with, could help him find his form.
He has experience of featuring in the Scottish Premiership with both Livingston and Hearts.

Rangers’ city rivals Celtic made an enquiry about Penrice in July, but they did not follow it up with an offer to sign him.
That has opened the door for Rangers, who will hope in Penrice they will have someone who can hit the ground running.
The Gers have just seen a deal collapse though.
They were close to landing a winger in the form of Couhaib Driouech from PSV Eindhoven but the deal fell through ‘due to an injury issue’ with the winger.
Following Youssef Chermiti’s injury, Rangers are also in the market for a centre forward and they have made a £7.4m offer to Portland Timbers for the signature of Kevin Kelsy, but the MLS outfit have no desire to part ways with the player.
