Rangers’ season is over and the Barry Ferguson verdict is in

It is pretty abundantly clear that Barry Ferguson is not the right man to be Rangers manager.

It appears now that few fans actually endorse him being appointed permanently and the majority of supporters wish to see a new man at the helm.

It was of course a play to the galleries to have him installed as interim coach in the first place and to add a whole bunch of bluenose coaching staff like McGregor and McCann.

What is patently clear is Rangers domestic results since installing him have been no better or worse than they were under Clement.

His results in Europe were typical Rangers. We call them Rangers Thursdays and it doesn’t seem to matter who the coach is.

Even Michael Beale managed to do it.

And while the players are clearly nowhere near up to standard of a proper rangers squad, well the manager can make a big difference to that. The Great Walter made Kirk Broadfoot a champion three times for goodness sake.

Barry is no Walter though and nobody since the great man has come close.

Giovanni kind of succeeded and was one Aaron Ramsey boot Goldson sclaff Kent miss you name it from having a statue erected outside Ibrox.

But the reality is we have been well off the pace for years in the league and Ferguson isn’t the man to change that.

The problem is we have no idea who is.

We cannot think of a single current manager or coach who could do the kind of job Walter did because that is what we want. Rangers man who understands the pressure of this club and can take a modest squad and make it winners.

And the only guy around who is still coaching and was able to do anything like Walter did was of course Alex McLeish and we think his coaching days are finished now.

End of the day another dire season for Rangers and unfortunately we’re getting used to it.
