Rangers are set to offload one of their wantaway stars and he is taking a pay cut to make the move happen, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Gers boss Philippe Clement is keen to move players on before the window closes as he looks to make additions of his own.

The Ibrox side have several irons in the fire, but have been largely dependent on getting players off the books first.

Now they are set to remove a big wage from the Ibrox wage bill as midfielder Todd Cantwell, who has been looking to leave, is on the way out.

Cantwell made clear to Clement earlier this summer his desire to quit Scottish football and move on.

He is now set to do just that as a move has been agreed for the midfielder to sign for Blackburn Rovers.

Cantwell is taking a pay cut on the amount he earns at Rangers in order to make an Ibrox escape.

The Ewood outfit will be looking to quickly push the deal over the line now and bring Cantwell back to English football, ending a lacklustre stint at Rangers.
