Rangers surge after early red to climb to second

Rangers beat Kilmarnock 5-1 at Ibrox on Wednesday to rise from third to second in the Scottish Premiership.
Dominic Thompson was sent off in the fourth minute after fouling Djeidi Gassama to concede a penalty. James Tavernier converted from the spot (5.).
Before the break, Kelle Roos kept the visitors in it with four saves as the ten men dug in.
After the restart, Bojan Miovski doubled the lead (58.). Substitute Andreas Skov Olsen added a third from Mikey Moore's pass (74.).
Greg Kiltie gave Kilmarnock brief hope (84.). Oliver Antman restored control after Tuur Rommens' cross (89.), before Moore finished in the third minute of stoppage time from Antman's cut-back.
Rangers controlled the ball with 69.3% possession and tallied 28 attempts, 11 on target. Kilmarnock registered eight attempts, two on target.
Next, Rangers host Queen's Park in the Scottish Cup. Kilmarnock host St Mirren next in the league.
