Rangers will meet Celtic again only days after their previous encounter, this time in a Scottish Premiership fixture on Sunday at Celtic Park.
Rangers go into the derby in strong shape, having won four games in a row across all competitions. They currently sit third in the Scottish Premiership, five points behind Celtic. Their recent run includes tight 1-0 league wins against Motherwell and St Mirren, followed by an impressive 3-0 victory over Celtic in last weekend’s League Cup tie.
Manager Derek McInnes, though, has some important fitness worries before the trip to Celtic Park. Striker Ryan Naderi is a major doubt and is expected to undergo a late test after suffering an ankle injury in the cup win over Celtic.
On the plus side, left-back Tuur Rommens has returned to full training following a groin problem, but he is still unlikely to start and is being monitored closely along with one other squad member.
Rangers are definitely without several key players. Captain Lawrence Shankland remains out after undergoing hamstring surgery, and fellow forward Youssef Chermiti is sidelined long-term with a cruciate ligament injury.
Daisuke Yokota, Kosta Nedeljkovic and Jose Cifuentes are also unavailable, leaving Venezuelan forward Kevin Kelsy expected to lead the attack once again.
Possible Rangers starting XI: Pandur; Sterling, Fernandez, Makhanya, Penrice; Raskin, Neil; Naderi, Kim, Gassama; Kelsy
The match will kick off at 12pm BST on Sunday, 20th September.
For fans in the United Kingdom, the match will be shown live on Sky Sports.
