Roma midfielder Manu Koné put himself on display in France’s latest 3-1 victory over Italy.
The Giallorossi player was given the chance to start for the Les Bleus and did not disappoint, commanding the midfield and dueling with Italy’s Niccolo Barella.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, one of the people watching the match was Claudio Ranieri who is already a big fan of Koné.
The newspaper suggests that Ranieri has already confided in those closest to him at Trigoria that Koné’s potential could turn him into the next Kanté – the midfielder who helped lead Ranieri’s Leicester City to a historic Premier League title.
The hope is that Ranieri will shape Koné in the same way, as he is the only player in Roma’s midfield who has certain skills, the only one capable of truly making the transition, transforming the action from defensive to offensive.
The two will meet today for the first time as Roma resume training ahead of the match against Napoli.
