This day provided a huge turning point in the title race - and gave Darwin Nunez his most important moment of the season.
Speculation was rife that the Uruguayan would be sold to Al-Hilal in January - and at a time when Arne Slot seemed to do everything but start the No9 at centre-forward.
But the head coach had no choice at the Gtech Community Stadium - as the chances ticked up and the minutes ticked away. The Reds were coming off the back of two consecutive draws and needed something special.
Up strode Darwin from the bench to strike two vital goals in the title race.
Darwin’s Liverpool legacy will be secured as a result of the part he played in the title win and there’s no doubt that most Liverpool fans genuinely miss his fight and endeavour.
His contributions here sealed a massive victory for the Reds - and from that difficult moment on they never looked back.
It’s always sweet beating Everton in the Merseyside Derby - but this moment came to mean so much more in the aftermath of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva’s tragic deaths in July.
We were left to reflect on Diogo’s Liverpool legacy and it wasn’t hard to find the most significant moment in his final season as a Red.
Jota’s derby winner in April was the last goal he scored as Liverpool’s No20 - giving fans one more very satisfying thrill en route to the Premier League title.
A hard-fought derby at Anfield was won via Jota’s moment of genuine class and saw his take the acclaim from his adoring public for the last time.
We will never forget Diogo Jota - and the memories he made for us.
Liverpool won the Premier League title in 2024/25 but even when they were on top and cruising for long spells in the season there was a worry about the contract fate of three players.
While keeping Trent Alexander-Arnold always looked like a remote possibility - Reds’ supporters got dream news two weeks in a row back in April.
First it was announced by the club that Mohamed Salah would renew until 2027 and a week later it was the turn of Van Dijk. That was the ideal scenario for the club - maintaining two world-class players for the seasons ahead and ensuring continuity.
Liverpool will one day need to replace both but these renewals were huge milestones during the title-winning campaign.
Liverpool had long been facing up to the reality that Trent Alexander-Arnold would leave the club in summer 2025. And when he got injured against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League in March it was wondered if he’d ever play for the club again.
While he was out of the team the Reds wobbled - losing the EFL Cup final as well as enduring that European elimination. But he returned to the squad a few weeks later - for a crucial away fixture at Leicester.
He was sprung from the bench late on - and scored a vital winning goal which put Arne Slot’s side within one win of the Premier League title.
What a moment it was - Trent ripping his shirt off and celebrating in front of the Liverpool fans. For a moment we thought it might be enough to convince Trent to stay.
Alas it wasn’t to be - but what a memory he left us with on that day.
Arne Slot won the Premier League in his first season in charge - making it two titles since 2020 for the Reds. After a long, fallow period without a top flight crown this generation of Liverpool fans is getting used to being on top.
But there was one big difference between this title win and the one in 2020. Jordan Henderson lifted the trophy in an empty stadium back then - denied the opportunity to savour it among the fans due to Covid restrictions.
While we will always cherish that title it just didn’t feel how it should. That’s why wrapping up the title against Spurs at Anfield - with four matches still to go in the season - will feel so sweet forever.
Liverpool fans had already started to party long before a 5-1 win was confirmed. And by full time the entire stadium was on its feet - with the crowd showing their appreciation to the players.
And in turn the players savoured each and every special moment among the fans.
This title was a long time coming but even when it was inevitable - it made the celebrations no less jubilant. This is how it was meant to be.
Liverpool’s summer transfer window was like we’ve never seen before. The business conducted by sporting director Richard Hughes brought not one but two British record transfer deals.
Florian Wirtz arrived for a fee that could reach £116m and Alexander Isak was recruited for £125m. Those deals saw Reds’ fans online reach fever pitch - but one deal done by Hughes far cheaper will end up being the best of the lot.
Newcastle thought they’d sealed a deal for Hugo Ekitike to replace the outbound Isak - but Liverpool muscled in to conclude a £69m transfer with Eintracht Frankfurt.
Any concerns about the Frenchman being one forward too many in light of the Isak signing have been quickly blown away.
The 23-year-old has already reached eight Premier League goals and 11 overall so far this season.

It was an incredibly difficult first season at Anfield for Federico Chiesa. Although he won the Premier League title - the Italian never truly won over Arne Slot and was reduced to a bit-part role.
He was linked to the exit over the summer and his fate looked sealed when several Italian teams expressed interest.
But he worked hard during the off-season before making himself a genuine option for Slot by the time the Premier League season kicked off.
And it was Chiesa who provided Anfield its first iconic moment of the season - scoring an 88th-minute goal against Bournemouth on matchday one to put the Reds 3-2 up.
It was a moment Chiesa deserved and the beginning of his Merseyside redemption arc. Fans have long since taken him to their hearts - even if winning Slot over decisively still remains a work in progress.
The early part of Liverpool’s season featured several of these memorable moments - tight matches decided in the Reds’ favour right at the end.
And Rio Ngumoha enjoyed his own personal breakthrough moment against Newcastle at St. James’ Park. This may well go down as game of the season - with the Reds winning a thriller in added time - and what a statement it was for Rio.
Then aged just 16, this was his coming-of-age moment just a few days before securing a new professional deal.
Szoboszlai’s stepover was sublime and the England youth international finished with all the aplomb of a senior player. This threatened to be liftoff in Liverpool’s season and in Ngumoha’s career.
What a special moment for the club and we will remain hopeful that Rio goes on to achieve the great things he deserves.
This was an incredibly even game between two heavyweight Premier League title contenders. And it was decided by a moment of world-class quality.
With the clock ticking down Dominik Szoboszlai strode forward to dispatch a 32-yard free-kick into David Raya’s top corner.
It was enough for the 25-year-old to secure the PL’s goal of the month award - but more importantly it kept Liverpool perfect in the title race.
It’s a shame the Reds haven’t been able to keep pace with Arsenal at the top - although there are signs that their form has finally stabilised.
Szoboszlai deserved a moment like this - being Liverpool’s best player of the 2025/26 season. It underlined his class and his importance to the cause.
You’ll have to search far and wide to find a better game-winning strike in the league this season.
Prior to the November 1 Premier League win against Aston Villa - Arne Slot’s Liverpool had LOST six of their previous seven games.
The title race was out of the question and a new team were still searching for their best form and for their identity. The Villa win helped confidence grow but it wasn’t until the midweek visit of Real Madrid in the Champions League that Liverpool would get a true reflection of where they stood.
The result was one that went in the home side’s favour - but more importantly this was Liverpool at their very best. Beating Madrid at Anfield was a vintage night - perhaps the side’s best performance of the season bar none.
It’s a shame the momentum couldn’t hold - with Slot’s side going on to lose three more games in a row - but this should have been a reminder to the players and the staff what they are capable of.
It was a night that made the fans believe again - and in the midst of a difficult spell - it felt for a moment like the title-winners were back.
