Atalanta’s strong defence and ability to capitalise on chances made the match a challenging one. While a victory eluded them, securing a point was crucial in cementing their position in second place.

“We always play with the goal of winning, but you have to look at the quality of our opponents.

“Atalanta defended very well and scored when they had chances. We finished the first phase happy and now we have our sights set on the League,” he began saying.

Raphinha also mentioned the unpredictability of the new Champions League format, which has seen heavyweight teams like Real Madrid, PSG, and Manchester City needing play-offs to reach the Round of 16.

“With this new format, we knew that it could happen to anyone, it was the turn of others and we are focused on our own.

“Now we have to wait for the draw, but there is still a long way to go and we have our minds on the League,” he added.

Speaking on Lamine’s visible frustration after being substituted, Raphinha shared his understanding. He acknowledged that as a competitive player, Lamine always wants to be on the pitch.

Drawing from his own past experiences of feeling similarly, Raphinha expressed his admiration for the young talent’s determination and growth.

“I understand Lamine, he is a spectacular player who always wants to be on the pitch. I have already gotten angry many times, I try to help him, I understand it… But he has done very well and he has scored.”

Ronald Araujo’s take

Defender Ronald Araujo also shared his thoughts post-match. The Uruguayan centre-back expressed no specific preference for their opponent in the next Champions League round, maintaining confidence in the team’s readiness.

“Whatever opponent we face, we will be ready. We have a great team.”

Araujo also reflected on his recovery journey from injury, highlighting the effort put into staying fit and match-ready. His patient approach, guided by discussions with the manager, has paid off, allowing him to contribute fully once again.

“I’m very happy. We also worked hard when I was injured with videos. I’m doing well, I’m happy. I was never in a hurry. I always talked to the manager about taking things little by little,” he noted.

Barcelona now look ahead, with their sights set firmly on both domestic and European success. The team’s resilience and adaptability will be key as they navigate the remainder of the season.
