Brazilian winger Raphinha of FC Barcelona has clinched the 2025 “Torreski” award for best athlete of the year, presented by Spanish radio station Cadena SER during a ceremony held Monday night at the Tivoli Theater.
Speaking to the “El Larguero” show on “Cadena SER” radio, Raphinha responded with a smile to a question about the lack of European recognition, saying the acknowledgment he receives here means a lot to him: “Looks like someone actually watched my games. It doesn’t matter, what matters most to me is the recognition I get here.”
The Brazilian international considered this accolade a significant mark of appreciation for his work: “Being recognized for what you do is something very special.”
He candidly added: “If I said individual awards weren’t important, I’d be lying.”
Continuing his assessment, he stated: “Team titles are still the most important, but I know what kind of season I’ve had and I know some things haven’t been fair. What I can control is what I do on the pitch.”
Regarding his fitness, Raphinha underlined his determination to return at full strength: “I don’t want to come back at 50%. I’m working every day to be ready at 100% as soon as possible.”
Asked about Barcelona’s one-point lead over Real Madrid in the league standings, he concluded confidently: “I don’t look at other teams. We focus on our own work. If we do what we need to, nothing else will matter.”
