Raphinha passed fit for Brazil’s 2026 World Cup showdown against Norway

Over the course of the 2026 World Cup, one of the biggest stories relating to Barcelona has been regarding Raphinha. The Brazilian winger picked up an injury during the group stage victory over Haiti, and while many expected him to play no part for the remainder of the tournament, there is now a strong chance that he returns to action in North America.

Given that it was another hamstring injury, it was understandable that pessimism was high regarding Raphinha’s chances of playing again at the World Cup. But after underdoing an intense recovery programme, he returned to group training earlier this week, and now he has been deemed ready to play for Brazil in their round of 16 match against Norway.

As per Sport, Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Raphinha will be included in the matchday squad for the Norway showdown.

“Raphinha has progressed very well. Of course he is not 100% yet, but he is available to play some minutes and be useful for the team. We are very happy for his recovery because it has gone well and quickly. We are talking about a player who is very, very important for the team.”

Barcelona will monitor Raphinha situation very intently

From a Barcelona perspective, it is far from ideal that Raphinha will be back in action so sooner after suffering the same injury that affected him no less than three times during the 2025-26 season. It’s only been two weeks since he went down against Haiti, so the chances of yet another relapse will be high – and if it happens, he would miss the entirety of pre-season, with chances also to be ruled out of the start of the upcoming 2026-27 campaign.

With this in mind, Barcelona will surely be in contact with the Brazil Football Federation (CBF) regarding the situation with Raphinha, as they seek to ensure that they are not negatively affected once the World Cup is over.
