Rasmus Hojlund makes his transfer stance clear following Arsenal snub

Rasmus Hojlund’s Manchester United is likely to be short-lived, if recent reports are to be believed.

Ruben Amorim did not hand him a single minute against Fiorentina in the final pre-season friendly, which clearly indicated that the Dane was not in the head coach’s plans for the season.

The United No.9 was severely disappointed, with many hinting that if the same scenario repeated itself against Arsenal, the Denmark international would be forced to leave.

As The Peoples Person relayed, the Portuguese tactician has not even named the ex-Atalanta ace in the matchday squad on Sunday, pushing him towards the exit door.

What will Rasmus Hojlund do?

Up till now, Rasmus Hojlund was adamant that he wanted to stay and fight, but now, he will be more open to the idea of moving back to the Serie A.

AC Milan are in pole position, but the 22-year-old wants his future to be sorted now. In other words, he wants a permanent exit or a loan with an obligation instead of a loan with an option.

That is because he does not want to return to Old Trafford in 12 months’ time, with the same uncertainty surrounding his future.

As per La Gazzetta dello Sport, the buy option is likely to be less than €40 million, which means his sale would be for a book loss for the Red Devils.

“Rasmus Hojlund is expected to sit on the bench, but the transfer market will “influence” the Red Devils manager’s decision. And AC Milan is also an interested spectator of what happens today between United and Arsenal.

“If the Dane ends up in the stands or on the bench (but doesn’t set foot on the pitch), then the last resistance to leaving would be overcome, even if the negotiations for Furlani and Tare are not going to be easy anyway.

Transfer stance made clear

“In recent days, Hojlund, in fact, has opened up to the possibility of leaving to join AC Milan’s project. So far, however, he’s been adamant on one point: he prefers a permanent transfer, or at least conditions that allow the Rossoneri to acquire him at the end of the season.

“He doesn’t want his Manchester-Milan flight to involve a “predictable” return across the Channel. He doesn’t intend to find himself in the same situation next summer. The former Atalanta player expects a buyout option not worth €40 million, but a lower figure.

“The rest will have to be done by him, playing a strong season that will encourage the management of Via Aldo Rossi to buy him. Next week will be crucial to understanding the outcome of the story: AC Milan accepted United’s and the player’s openness to the deal on time, but they can’t afford to wait too long to close it.”

The Rossoneri have several alternatives ready and it will be interesting to see if a deal for the United striker does materialise.
