Sunderland’s first season back in the Premier League has been successful so far, with Florent Ghisolfi’s recruitment central to it. Here is how his 17 signings across the last two windows measure up.
According to Sunderland Echo, Ghisolfi assumed much of the responsibility for both windows after Kristjaan Speakman’s exit, and with safety almost secured he is tasked with building on this momentum in the summer.
Granit Xhaka is 10/10 for leadership and control. Robin Roefs also earns 10/10 for composure and authority. Nordi Mukiele and Noah Sadiki are 9.5/10 after outstanding early-season influence.
Omar Alderete is 9/10, assured in a side that often defends deep. Brian Brobbey is 9/10, a focal point whose initial fee around £17 million looks shrewd. Reinildo is 8/10, excellent when fit, aside from a red card against Aston Villa.
Record buy Habib Diarra is 7/10 after injury and AFCON interruptions, and Chemsdine Talbi is 7.5/10 with pace and end product. Bertrand Traoré is 7/10, Simon Adingra 5/10 and now on loan at AS Monaco, while Arthur Masuaku is 3/10 with minutes scarce.
Lutsharel Geertruida is 7.5/10 with versatility, and Marc Guiu is 5/10 after Chelsea recalled him early. Melker Ellborg is 7.5/10 after a £3 million move, Nilson Angulo is 7/10, and Jocelin Ta Bi is unrated after injury. Enzo Le Fée is excluded, and from this summer Ghisolfi works with his new structure, so subtle strategic shifts may follow.
