Raúl Jiménez to sign Valencia renewal with €60 million release clause

Valencia will shortly extend Raúl Jiménez's contract to June 2028, inserting a €60 million release clause and averting the risk of losing the 19-year-old for nothing on 30 June.

According to AS, the Catral-born goalkeeper had been free to sign elsewhere for next season, yet he has chosen to stay despite proposals from Premier League clubs such as Leicester, and from Módena in Italy's Serie B.

Jiménez is a highly rated Spain youth international, with 19 caps at under-19 and 16 at under-17. He was one of three keepers selected for the under-20 World Cup in Chile in October. He did not feature in the finals but debuted for the under-20s in a warm-up against France.

Valencia have also brought through Vicent Abril, another goalkeeper who travelled to that tournament, and he is working with the first team due to Agirrezabala's injury.

Jiménez joined Valencia from Elche in 2020. The plan is for him to complete the season with Valencia Mestalla in Segunda RFEF.

He is expected to return to the Mestalla goal this week after overcoming an injury.
