CD Castellón have secured the return of Raúl Sánchez on a deal to 2031, hailed as a smart move for sporting and financial reasons. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the operation delivers five clear benefits.

The forward left for Necaxa for economic reasons and to join a strong Mexican league, yet he had left a mark with 25 goals and 13 assists in 112 appearances. His comeback is seen by supporters as a prodigal son moment.

Integration should be swift once he overcomes jet lag and adapts to the Mediterranean winter. He already knows the language, the club, the city and Pablo Hernández’s ideas.

On the pitch, his first three seasons helped promotion to Segunda División then survival. Notably last term he worked selflessly with solid defensive contribution, and he can play on either wing.

Financially, Castellón sold him last summer to Necaxa for around €1 million and have brought him back for about €200,000. The move was enabled by Kenneth Mamah’s €385,000 sale to Vanspor of Türkiye, freeing salary-cap space for further business.

There is also a €200,000 bonus payable to Necaxa if Castellón win promotion to LaLiga EA Sports, a sign of intent. This week, for the first time since 1988/1989, the side sit in the automatic promotion places at this stage.
