Jonathan Urretavizcaya announced via his official Instagram account that he has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee.
“Good afternoon everyone, it is not the best news but I have the bad fortune to injure myself in the last match with my club, the diagnosis is torn cruciate ligament,” wrote the 28-year-old winger.
“It is the news that no athlete likes to give but it is the reality and I have to face it with a lot of strength and a lot of optimism.
“I want to thank each one of the people who are with me in this difficult moment of my career, I will come back stronger. Thank you all.”
The Uruguayan has registered two assists in eight Liga MX appearances so far this season, and will be a big loss to Diego Alonso’s side.
Rayados take on Tigres UANL at Estadio Universitario on Sunday evening.
