Rayan has needed only five Premier League matches to make his mark. The Athletic describes the 19-year-old Bournemouth forward as one of this season’s most feared attackers after a €25 million, R$ 151 million, move from Vasco.

Many feared for Bournemouth after Antoine Semenyo joined Manchester City, his exit remembered for a stoppage-time winner at Tottenham, their first win in 12. Semenyo was not the issue, but the team may have grown too reliant on him. Rayan’s arrival has refreshed the side, with about half of the Semenyo fee unspent.

He has two goals and one assist, often starting wide despite being viewed as a centre-forward in Brazil. In their most recent outing Bournemouth repeatedly sought him, with Djordje Petrovic aiming kicks towards him rather than the centre-forward. His aerial strength showed with a back-post header against Everton.

Andoni Iraola has central options in Eli Junior Kroupi, Evanilson, Justin Kluivert and Enes Unal, often using only one plus a support, Rayan has been used wide. His debut came as a substitute on the left at Wolves, where he cut inside and squared for Alex Scott. His first start was on the right the following weekend against Aston Villa, when he beat Lucas Digne and finished at the near post.

Explosive over short distances, he hits long-range shots, crosses and takes set pieces. Predominantly left-footed yet comfortable on his right, he prefers efficiency over showboating. Born on three August 2006, he is contracted to Bournemouth until 30 June 2031.
