La Liga outfit Rayo Vallecano are waiting in the wings, ahead of the impending return of Borja Iglesias to Real Betis.
That’s according to Diario Sport, citing Relevo, who point towards frontman Borja already seeking out a new club for next season.
The Spanish international was farmed out on loan during the January transfer window, linking up with Xabi Alonso’s high-flying Bayer Leverkusen.
Struggling to make an impact at the BayArena to date, however, it is viewed as altogether unlikely that the Bayer brass will activate their option to make Borja’s move permanent.
With no future for the 31-year-old back in Heliópolis, either, Borja’s representatives therefore have work to do, in sourcing a new landing spot for their client for next season.
And one such club who are expected to make imminent contact with the camp of the striker come in the form of Rayo Vallecano.
Long-time admirers of Borja’s talents, and on the lookout for reinforcements up top with a view to next season, the Franjirrojos hierarchy view his uncertain future as a market opportunity.
An exchange of sorts involving Raúl de Tomás has been suggested, though Real Betis are understood to be keen to secure a fee through Borja’s exit.
