Marca reports that Girona left-back Álex Moreno is among the candidates being considered to cover the role if Chavarría leaves.

Moreno fits the brief for experience and attributes, with a substantial top-flight record and familiarity with Spanish football at the highest level.

The left-footer returned to La Liga with Girona and is noted for his attacking thrust, pace and stamina down the flank, qualities shown at Rayo Vallecano, Real Betis and Aston Villa.

Any approach would represent a possible return to Vallecas, where he enjoyed a significant spell before moving to Betis. For now, he is one option under study as Rayo continue to evaluate ways to strengthen their defence.
