Sky Germany and Kicker both report that Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig have finalized the details of keeper Janis Blaswich’s transfer. Blaswich will move from Leipzig to Leverkusen for a €2m base-transfer-fee with a potential €1m in bonuses. Blaswich is slated to back up the newly acquired Mark Flekken at his new Bundesliga outfit. The two sources report that Blaswich is en route to Leverkusen for his medical.

The 34-year-old Blaswich brings with him plenty of Bundesliga experience, making 47 total appearances in place of injured Leipzig No. 1 Peter Gulacsi. Blaswich’s late career renaissance brought him plenty of attention. For a time, there existed a discussion as to whether Blaswich would displace Leipzig’s captain in net. Blaswich has also earned call ups to Julian Nagelsmann’s national team.

Blaswich presently returns to Leipzig following a year-long-loan stint at RB’s sister club of Salzburg. Gulacsi’s starting status is once again in doubt, but Blaswich doesn’t factor into the competition between the Leipzig skipper and young Maarten Vandevoort. Leverkusen themselves have offloaded their own presumed keeper-of-the-future Matej Kovar and are preparing to part company with longtime squad captain Lukas Hradecky.
