RC Lens backs Allan Saint-Maximin after racist abuse on Instagram

RC Lens has condemned racist abuse directed at new signing Allan Saint-Maximin on Instagram.

The club said in a statement that it stands by Saint-Maximin and his family and reaffirmed its commitment to respect and tolerance. It added that it had closed comments under some posts to stem the abuse.

The abuse arrived on Tuesday, with a wave of messages posted on the platform, many of them written in Spanish.

Numerous comments were made by Mexican users.

Saint-Maximin had been playing in Mexico for Club América until late January, leaving after denouncing racism suffered by his children in the country.
