La Liga outfit Real Betis have this afternoon confirmed that an agreement has been reached, regarding a contract extension for a highly-regarded member of the club’s goalkeeper ranks.

The player in question? Fran Vieites.

Vieites, for his part, has been on the books at Betis since the summer of 2022, when he made the move to the Estadio Benito Villamarín from Lugo.

And, all told, the 24-year-old’s time in Seville has since proven a huge success.

Vieites, in his first term as a Verdiblanco, secured Goalkeeper of the Season honours in Group 4 of the Second Federation, whilst lining out for Betis Deportivo.

And such performances have since seen the Galician rewarded, by way of a regular place in the club’s first-team setup in 2023/24.

In fact, Vieites has been afforded a trio of appearances by Betis headmaster Manuel Pellegrini.

On Monday, it should therefore come as little surprise to hear of the Celta Vigo youth product being rewarded yet further, on this occasion by way of those in the boardroom at the Benito Villamarín.

As per an official statement across the club’s website and social media platforms, Real Betis have tied Vieites down to a new contract, through the summer of 2026:

‘Real Betis Balompié and Fran Vieites have agreed to expand the relationship between both parties. In this way, the youth player will remain linked to the Club de las Trece Barras until 2026.’
